Capital: Montevideo

Getting there: The easiest way is to fly to Buenos Aires in Argentina and then take a short connecting flight to Montevideo on the north side of the Rio del Plata. Buenos Aires is a 15 hour flight from the UK, and the flight between Buenos Aires and Montevideo takes approximately 20 minutes.

Time: GMT minus 4 hours.

Try not to miss: Our fabulous beach rides close to the Brazilian border and the bright lights of Punta del Este in the summer months.

Visas: No visa is required for visits of up to 90 days for UK citizens.
