Muscoates Cottage

We have a delightful cottage capable of sleeping up to four guests, and enjoying panoramic views to the North Yorkshire Moors. The accommodation includes a spacious stone flagged living and dining area, complete with wooden beamed ceilings and underfloor heating throughout. The cottage is part of Muscoates Grange, a farm steeped in local history, and the setting for Herbert Reid's acclaimed autobiography An Innocent Eye, which vividly describes rural childhood at a time when this property was a self-sufficient working farm.

The theme of self-sufficiency is maintained today, and guests may purchase a range of organic produce raised and grown on the property according to season. This includes delicious cuts of pork from our home raised Gloucester Old Spot pigs, which are fattened on windfall apples in the property's traditional orchard, and a wide variety of local game. The Michelin starred Star Inn at Harome, and stately Castle Howard are both within ten minutes drive, and a stunning coastline awaits exploration on the far side of the moors.

Muscoates cottage enjoys a quiet location with panoramic views to the North Yorkshire Moors, and is situated a few minutes drive from the pretty village of Nunnington and her excellent local pub. The interior and exterior finishes are all of the highest quality with Yorkshire stone floors, a well equipped kitchen and a state of the art under floor heating system throughout. This charming and tranquil cottage makes an ideal base for exploring Ryedale and the beautiful North Yorkshire moors.
